Would you want to know your future?

Many newspapers and magazines across the country assume that people want to know their future. With the endless daily and weekly horoscopes from leading Astrologers, it is implied that our futures are destined and our lives are already planned out. Horoscopes supposedly offer guidance and may provide hope to people that something positive is about to happen in their lives.

Most horoscope ‘predictions’ found in magazines or newspapers are very general, so they can apply to almost anyone. Part of my horoscope this week (from More magazine) reads: ‘… Thursday’s Saturn/ Moon influence shows you could get run down if you say yes to everything’, which could apply to virtually anybody. Therefore, it is questionable whether horoscopes - as well as online tests and tarot readings - are truly accurate or whether they are purely for entertainment. Even so, they are very popular both in magazines and online.

There are many websites which provide information on star signs and horoscopes. There are also websites which include tests and tarot readings that claim to predict the future. I will explore these websites within my blog and discuss religious views regarding horoscopes and astrology.
